There are two fundamental elements to content management. Storing stuff in a content repository (database), and supporting the workflow of a group of people engaged in putting stuff there. Kind of like putting dishes away. Unfortunately making this come true is not an easy task. What CMS should I get, will my hosting provider allow all features of the CMS on the server. Questions over questions. No website will give an answer unless you have tried for yourself in incorporate a CMS.

Why would you even bother with Content Management ?
Is there anybody better to manage your site but you ? We don't think so. And a Content Management System (CMS) is supposed to help you with the publication of web content you want displayed. On top of that, it allows you to create content without requiring technical knowledge of HTML, ASP.net or other web standards.

We do not believe in Open Source.
There are 100s of CMS systems available on the market. In fact they come in all kind of shapes, with more or less useful features, expensive or free, but they have all one thing in common. They are designed to cater to a mass market but not to you. Using a ready-to-go CMS for your application might be possible, but a long way of pain and tears lays ahead. For a simple reason. An open source CMS will not cater to your specific application features and has to be adapted. And in many cases, features of Standard CMS are "nice to have" and consume heavy server resources.

Custom CMS without all the Schnick Schnack.
All our applications come with a custom Content Management System which reflects the features and structure of your application. It is completely tailored to meet your requirements and your level of experience. Our CMS can do exactly the same thing an open source CMS can do. With several differences. It is included in your project. And you do not need to get a degree first in order to understand and operate it. And most importantly, our CMS will grow with your application. New features on your site can easily be incorporated into your CMS. And of course, you will be able to maintain the content (documents, images, media, uploads ...) completely by yourself. Wherever you are, and whenever you want.

Customizable CMS we use.
As already mentioned, we have no plans of re-inventing the wheel over and over. Sometimes it is more useful to take an existing CMS and adjust it to your needs, especially for smaller projects. The following four CMS meet our standards and have been used for several standard web projects. All four CMS systems are available in free and paid releases.

Summary: Let's face it: traditional web site development with tedious coding using basic ASP.NET infrastructure is too complex, repetitive and expensive. You can hardly justify the costs of such development in the era of content management systems that provide ready-to-use frameworks oriented towards storing, updating and publishing content. Kentico CMS provides a flexible, content-oriented framework based on the ASP.NET platform that allows you to cut your the development time from hours to minutes.  What used to require writing ADO.NET code, SQL queries and using databound controls, can be done with a few mouse-clicks in Kentico CMS.

Summary: Who would believe that there would be an Open Source CMS based on Microsoft's ASP.net ? A CMS that can support any modern browser and that even allows editing with Microsoft Word. One where designers can create accessible and valid xhtml with their markup left intact. Where developers can integrate any .NET based control right out of the box. If someone tells you "won't happen", then they have never used Umbraco.
